An amendment to the Salt Lake County zoning ordinance permitting the sale of services from so-called mobile stores has been given final approval by county commissioners.

The new measure allows mobile vendors, such as those operating auto emissions testing vans, to obtain permits to conduct business on approved sites in the unincorporated county. The ordinance previously allowed the sale of goods by mobile vendors, but had no provision for service sales. The amendment limits all mobile vendors to 120 consecutive days of operation at any single site, and prohibits vendors from relocating within 250 feet of a vending site they previously occupied within a calendar year.
