A Salt Lake attorney pleaded not guilty Friday to a felony theft charge and was ordered to stand trial Oct. 24 in 3rd District Court.

A. Paul Schwenke, 37, 967 E. 48th South, entered the plea before Judge Homer Wilkinson.According to a probable cause statement, Schwenke made an out-of-court settlement of $92,943 in a personal injury suit on behalf of client Caren Serr in September 1985. The attorney kept three times the amount he was entitled to for legal services, the statement says.
