A Salt Lake man has been bound over for trial on vehicle homicide charges in the hit-and-run death of a West Valley man.

Cameron B. Larson, 19, is accused of being intoxicated while driving a vehicle that struck and killed Dale G. Rowley, 28, as the victim walked on a sidewalk at 41st South near 15th West. The criminal complaint said Larson, whose blood alcohol was more than twice the amount of legal intoxication, slammed into a large rock, a camper and a boat before coming to a stop.

Police investigating the accident did not know Rowley had been hit until they were about to leave the scene and found the body.

Third Circuit Judge Philip Palmer ruled Wednesday there was sufficient evidence for Larson to stand trial on the charge of vehicle homicide, driving on a suspended license and having improper registration.

Larson is scheduled for a Sept. 23 arraignment before 3rd District Judge David Young.
