Boston Celtics' center Bill Walton, who sat out last season with foot injuries, has had more surgery on his right foot in a California hospital and may not play this season, officials said.

"At this point, we're taking the position that Bill is not going to play basketball this year," said Boston Celtics General Manager Jan Volk. "We're going to accept that and go on from there."However, Dr. F. William Wagner, the surgeon who operated on Walton's right ankle Tuesday in California, said he believes it is possible the 35-year-old former UCLA All-American and NBA All-Star could recover this season.
