The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that the 61st annual Academy Awards presentation will take place at the Shrine Civic Auditorium on Wednesday, March 29, 1989.

Richard Kahn, president of the academy, said it will be the first Oscar ceremony scheduled for an evening other than a Monday since 1975, when it was held on a Tuesday.Nominations for Oscars will be announced in Beverly Hills at academy headquarters Feb. 15, 1989.

(BU) TWO-TIME TONY AWARD-WINNER Judith Ivey has signed to co-star with Bruce Willis and Emily Lloyd in "In Country," Norman Jewison's new drama filming in Kentucky.

Ivey, who won two Tonys for best supporting actress in "Steaming" and "Hurlyburly," also appeared on Broadway opposite Ed Harris in "Precious Sons."
