Jim Bakker suffered an attack of memory loss Thursday over extravagant expenditures during his tenure at PTL and claimed complete ignorance of a $1,800 glass box purchased to house a pair of his shoes.
Bakker testified in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court trial of a $52 million lawsuit PTL has filed against him, his wife, Tammy Faye, and his former aide David Taggart.Bakker failed to remember critical details about PTL financing.
"I don't know. I don't remember. I can't recall," Bakker answered repeatedly under questioning from PTL attorney Bradford Leggett.
The attorneys showed him charts detailing millions of dollars in salary and bonuses over his last four years at the ministry but Bakker said the charts made no sense.
"I don't understand some of these charts," he said. "They don't make sense to me. I'm shocked at some of the figures."
