Tax protest leader Greg Beesley criticized Democrat Ted Wilson on Thursday, saying Wilson would have raised taxes more than Gov. Norm Bangerter, who Beesley also opposes, but possibly in a sneakier manner.
ilson, who formally announced for governor Wednesday, "recently criticized the handling of tax issues because the governor shocked taxpayers with last year's huge increases," Beesley said. "Wilson would have instead hiked taxes in stages over a longer period to keep taxpayers from realizing what was happening."Beesley also criticized Wilson's record as Salt Lake City mayor, saying the city's utility franchise and property taxes were increased during his tenure.
