M. Richard Maxfield, a member of the Utah State Board of Education, wants Gov. Norm Bangerter to place a compromise tax-limitation proposal on the agenda for Wednesday's special session, arguing that the compromise might forestall the passage of three tax limitation initiatives in November.

Francine Gianni, the governor's spokeswoman, said Bangerter has looked at the possibility in the past. However, legislators and tax protesters have disliked the idea, so the governor is not likely to put it on the agenda.
