A $5.7 million bond proposal for road improvements will be before West Jordan voters Oct. 4 without provisions for purchasing a fire truck or land for parks.

The City Council Tuesday voted to deal only with road improvements in the bond proposal and use other funds that should be available in October to accomplish a $700,000 capital improvements plan for park development. The purchase of a new fire truck has also been separated from the proposed bond issue, partly because some city officials believed the bond election ballot would be too complicated if voters had three questions to deal with instead of just one.

Council members were sporting buttons promoting passage of the bond election Tuesday and have been holding neighborhood meetings, also promoting the election.

The special election is expected to cost the city $5,000.
