The Colorado Rangers could become the Denver Rangers on Monday, according to the chief partner in a group that has agreed to buy the International Hockey League franchise from Dennis Champine.

Richard Gerry, an Aurora businessman, announced Tuesday that he and Denver Nuggets owner Sidney Shlenker, together with United Cable, have agreed to purchase the troubled team, although the sale hasn't been finalized. The agreement is contingent on the Denver City Council's approval of a lease agreement for the Denver Coliseum. That decision is expected to be made Monday.
