BYU senior All-American Dylann Duncan was voted HCAC Volleyball Player of the Week in the first poll of the 1988 season released Tuesday. Duncan, a middle blocker from Salt Lake City, led the Cougar spikers to three victories in four matches in Hawaii last weekend, including a three-game victory over 12th-ranked Oregon.
Duncan tallied 78 kills in the four matches - 28 of them against 2nd-ranked Hawaii - for a .442 hitting percentage to outperform NCAA defending Player of the Year Teee Williams of Hawaii. Duncan logged 153 total attacks for a .379 hitting percentage overall. She served up eight aces, adding three assists, five block solos, 14 block assists and 23 digs in the four matches.
