Two former Millard County deputies have each pleaded guilty to a single charge related to misconduct, reversing previous pleas of not guilty to several charges that had been filed against them.

David Allen and Glen Quarnberg pleaded guilty through plea negotiations. County Attorney LeRay Jackson said pleas were negotiated partly because further court proceedings would have required testimony from jail inmates.Quarnberg pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting fornication, and Allen entered a guilty plea to one count of lewdness. The aiding and abetting charge stemmed from allegedly allowing visits by former Wendover Police Chief June Carter to his wife while she was incarcerated at the county jail in Fillmore.

Two other charges against each of the men were withdrawn.

After conducting an internal investigation, Millard County Sheriff Ed Phillips requested an independent investigation by the Utah Department of Corrections. Charges were filed following investigations.

Sentencing has been set for June 14 in 4th District Court following a review by the Utah Adult Probation and Parole Board.
