Ernest Dixon, senior programmer analyst for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Utah, recently received the Readability Improvement Leadership Award from the U.S. Postal Service.

Presented by Senior Assistant Postmaster General Richard J. Strasser Jr., the award recognized Blue Cross Blue Shield's early commitment to automation by adding ZIP+4 Codes and pre-barcoding its mail.A member of the local Postal Customer Council Executive Board, Dixon helped Blue Cross Blue Shield take advantage of postal work-sharing programs, which saved thousands of dollars in mailing costs. Blue Cross Blue Shield is the first mailer in the country to implement the Address Change Service on first-class mail, a program that electronically updates customer addresses.
