United Way of the Great Salt Lake Area announced Wednesday that Buck McCleneghan, vice president of resource development and communications, has accepted a senior vice president position at United Way of Santa Clara County, Calif.
In his tenure in Utah, he helped the agency increase the annual fund-raising campaign from $4.2 million in 1987 to almost $6 million in 1990."I have been very fortunate to have worked with an outstanding group of volunteer community leaders," he said. "The dollars the community has raised is a tribute to the United Way organization and the wonderful services it provides to the community."
Former campaign chairman Fredric "Fritz" Reed praised McCleneghan's organizational, planning and people skills and said the man's sense of humor has added "to the enjoyment of working with the United Way team."
McCleneghan's new duties will include building on a $25 million annual campaign base, marketing, communications and strategic planning for the California group.
Kevin Carrillo will replace him in the Utah organization.
