The Utah Wing of the Civil Air Patrol has announced the formation of the Provo Patriot Squadron.

Capt. Ross Fulton, squadron commander, said 35 cadets have broken away from the Provo Composite Squadron to form their own unit because of increasing membership.An auxiliary organization of the United States Air Force, the CAP trains young men and women 13 to 21.

"The Freedom Festival committee has invited the Provo Patriot Squadron to march in this year's July 4 parade, and the Fourth Tactical Fighter Squadron at Hill Air Force Base has invited us there to see their F-16s in action," Fulton said.

Squadron meetings are open to the public. They take place every Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the National Guard Armory, 200 West 500 North. For more information, call 785-5694 or 224-9895.
