Police say a man found unconscious in the parking lot of a local cafe Tuesday morning probably suffered a heart attack.
Joseph Bernard Mumm, 46, of Blackfoot, Idaho, was pronounced dead at American Fork Hospital about 11:30 a.m.Police received a call at 10 a.m. about a man lying unconscious and not breathing in the parking lot of the cafe, 950 W. 600 South. Pleasant Grove Ambulance responded to the scene, where bystanders were administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The ambulance crew transported the man to American Fork Hospital, where he was pronounced dead 90 minutes later.
Pleasant Grove Lt. Tom Paul said Mumm had a history of heart problems and had been hospitalized in Flagstaff, Ariz., recently. Police were trying Tuesday to locate a man who was with Mumm when he collapsed and initially reported Mumm needed help.
Police asked the Utah state medical examiner's office to perform an autopsy to confirm the cause of death, Paul said.
