Dona L. Harris, associate professor of family and preventive medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine, will receive the 1991 Excellence in Education Award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

The award recognizes Harris' contributions in the areas of medical student specialty selection, student research and predoctoral education were major factors in her selection.Harris has been on leave from the U. to serve as the first scholar in residence for the Council on Graduate Medical Education in Rockville, Maryland. A program she developed and coordinated, the Public Health Service Primary Care Policy Fellowship Program, will be implemented this summer. Nineteen leaders in primary care medicine will spend three weeks in June learning about the public health service and its primary care programs. The program was designed to affect health policy at national and local levels.
