Michael K. Hickey has been elected president of the Hibernian Society of Utah for the 1991-92 year. He succeeds past president John Mooney.
Hickey, who lives in Olympus Hills, is president and chief executive officer of Axonix Corp., a Sugar House company that manufactures accessory equipment for portable computers.A Utah resident for seven years, Hickey was formally a vice president for GTE Supply in Salt Lake City and ITT Corp. in New York City.
The Hibernian Society is a non-political, non-sectarian social and cultural club. There are no requirements for membership, other than the love of all things Irish. The organization has sponsored the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Salt Lake since 1978.
Other annual events include the Irish night with the Utah Symphony, the Grand Ball, poetry readings and other festivities that celebrate the living traditions of Ireland.
