The St. Louis Blues, facing a $1 million lawsuit that alleges sexual misconduct by Doug Gilmour with a minor, have wiggled out of the dilemma by trading their star center.
"Consciously, I won't say it did," general manager Ron Caron said of whether Monday's seven-player deal stemmed from last week's civil petition. "Unconsciously, I have no idea."St. Louis, in addition to Gilmour, sent right wing Mark Hunter to Calgary along with left wing Steve Bozek and young defenseman Michael Dark. In return, the Blues got center Mike Bullard and Craig Coxe, a 6-foot-4 center.
Gilmour, 25, scored 36 goals and had 50 assists last season for the Blues.
A lawsuit against Gilmour, which was filed last Tuesday in St. Louis County Circuit Court, alleges he had sexual relations with an under-age girl beginning in July 1987, when she was 13, extending into this year.
