Our beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother and friend, Elvin Verl Asay, age 69, died May 16, 1991 in Murray, Utah.
Born April 21, 1922 in Castle Dale, Utah to Joseph Edward and Susan Sariah Johnson Asay. Married LaVaun Heaton September 7, 1942 in Alton, Utah; marriage later solemnized August 6, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Served eight years in State Senate and several years on the Kearns Town Council. Served in the bishopric and as bishop, High Priest Group Leader, ward clerk, church and Seminary teacher. He was called at age 36 to be a Patriarch, youngest in church at that time. Also served three missions with his wife to Washington State, Toronto, Canada, and London, England.Survived by wife; son, Joseph Edward and wife Arlene Asay, Taylorsville; three daughters, Verla and husband Roger Anderson, Murray; Kay and husband Robert Holbrook and Sharon and husband Michael Ray, all of Taylorsville; 20 grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; four brothers, Eldred J. Asay, Murray; Seth B. Asay, Bountiful; Zane S. Asay, Washington, Utah; Ervil D. Asay, St. George; and sister, Georgia Nielsen, Layton. Preceded in death by four infant children, parents, and two brothers, Juan and Basil.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 2 p.m., at the Taylorsville 10th Ward, 4950 South 1950 West. Friends ay call Sunday, 4-7 p.m. at the McDougal Golden Rule Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Monday, at the church, 1-1:40 p.m. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens.
