A former South Summit art teacher has pleaded guilty to attempted forcible sodomy stemming from an incident involving a 14-year-old boy at a St. George motel.
Francis Everett Nichols, 44, Oakley, entered the plea before 5th District Judge J. Philip Eves.Deputy Washington County Attorney Brent Langston said the incident occurred Feb. 2 when Nichols allegedly took the boy to the Red Cliffs Mall to buy him a pair of shoes, then brought him to a nearby motel.
Sentencing was scheduled for June 10.
Nichols earlier pleaded guilty to a single count of dealing in materials harmful to a minor in a similar case in Coalville. Sentencing in that case is set for June 3.
Summit County officials say Nichols showed three students pornographic movies and attempted to fondle a 13-year-old boy earlier this year.
Two of the students also said Nichols showed them books depicting heterosexual and homosexual intercourse.
As part of a plea bargain, Summit County prosecutors dropped two other charges of dealing in materials harmful to a minor and one count of attempted sexual abuse.
