Law enforcement officials Tuesday continued their investigation into the death of a Brigham Young University student who was apparently killed after falling off a cliff in Rock Canyon east of Provo.

The body of Thomas L. Grover, 31, Ogden, was discovered at the base of a 35-foot cliff Monday morning by three hikers. Grover was last seen alive Aug. 30, but he had not been listed as missing, a sheriff's department dispatcher said.Grover is believed to have died three to five days ago from internal injuries suffered in the fall. Officials said the victim, whose vehicle was found parked nearby, had been hiking and climbing around Rock Canyon.

According to the sheriff's department, Grover apparently had been traversing a terraced cliff with line that was unable to hold his weight. When the line broke, officials believe, Grover slid approximately 40 feet down a steep rock face before plunging off the 35-foot cliff.
