An organization opposed to Utah Transit Authority's plan to build a light-rail system in Salt Lake County will hold a public information meeting Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m. in the Salt Lake City Council chamber.

Area Leaders for Responsible Transit, the only organized opposition to the proposed multimillion-dollar commuter train, has called the meeting to prepare people planning to attend a May 29 light-rail hearing sponsored by the Salt Lake County Commission."There are still quite a few people who haven't been made aware of the light-rail issue," said Bill Barton, a former state senator and founding member of ALRT.

Those with questions or concerns about the May 20 meeting can call Betty Christensen, 466-2136, ALRT meeting coordinator.
