An East Carbon woman is being held in Carbon County Jail on a manslaughter charge following the shooting death of her husband.

During an arraignment Thursday in 7th Circuit Court, bail for Cindy Lou Martinez, 36, was set at $10,000.She was charged following the death of Marcell Martinez, 41, who was shot in the head with a .22-caliber rifle. He was shot Sunday but died later.

Carbon County Attorney Gene Strate said the shooting of the victim outside his home apparently followed an ongoing domestic dispute. Strate said the fatal shot appeared to have gone through a window before striking the victim who has outside.

The victim was taken by Life Flite helicopter to a Salt Lake hospital where he later died.

Allen Thorpe, Castle Dale, legal defender for both Carbon and Emery Counties, was appointed to represent the defendant.

Meanwhile, two transients being held in Carbon County Jail in connection with the death of a man whose body was found Sunday in the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad yards in Helper were released. The men had not been charged and a judge ruled there was insufficient evidence to continue holding the men.

The investigation is continuing.
