The Utah National Guard's 142nd military intelligence battalion, which served longer than any other Utah military unit in Operation Desert Storm, returned home Monday.

On active duty since August, the 15-member unit arrived at Salt Lake International Airport at 10:14 a.m. from Fort Carson, Colo., where they have been processing for demobilization since Thursday, a National Guard spokesman said."Members of the unit are Arabic-speaking linguists and functioned as interpreters for allied military commanders during the Persian Gulf war," said spokesman Lt. Col. Bob Nelson.
