Region 6 will be well represented when the 3A state soccer championships begin Tuesday at Clearfield High. That's because all five of Region 6's teams won inter-region playoff games last week to advance to this week's finals.
At least two of those teams will be eliminated Tuesday, however, as the eight finalists begin the single-elimination tourney. At 1:45, Ben Lomond will take on fellow Region 5 foe Logan. The Scots beat Tooele in a shootout 3-0 while Logan edged Uintah 2-1.Game two at 3:30 matches Bountiful and Judge, both Region 6 foes. Bountiful advanced with a 3-1 win over Lehi on Thursday, while the Bulldogs were squeeking by Mountain Crest 3-2 in overtime. At 5:15, Murray of Region 6 plays Skyview of Region 5. The Spartans surprised Springville 2-1 on Thursday, while Skyview thumped Wasatch 5-0.
The evening's final game pits Jordan and Woods Cross, both of Region 5, against one another. Jordan trounced Payson 7-2, while Woods Cross, the league champ and tournament favorite, shutout Ogden 3-0.
Tuesday's winners will play on Thursday, with the Ben Lomond-Logan winner taking on the Bountiful-Judge victor at 4:30, and the winners of the Murray-Skyview and Jordan-Woods Cross games playing at 6:15. The championship game will be played at 6 p.m. Friday night on Clearfield High's
