What would it be like to land a fairy-tale size trout in scenic Great Slave Lake in Canada?

How does an expert rate Utah's golf courses?Where are Utah's hottest fishing spots?

Beginning Tuesday the Deseret News will answer those questions by offering expanded outdoors/recreation coverage.

A recent survey conducted by Dan Jones and Associates for the Deseret News sports department clearly shows that Utahns enjoy the outdoors and reading about outdoors/recreation activities.

Outdoors Editor Ray Grass, first-place winner in the Rocky Mountain Outdoors Writers contest four of the past five years, spearheads the effort to offer a broad spectrum of coverage for the outdoors/recreation enthusiast.

In addition to a highlight article on Tuesday, longtime golf writer Mike Sorensen will rate Utah's golf courses that day, beginning with Bonneville.

Thursdays will continue to be a featured outdoors/recreation day. In addition to the calendar of upcoming events, it will also be the day for results from road races and other recreation competitions to run. Holes-in-one will also be printed that day.

On Sundays Grass will highlight one of Utah's fishing areas.

Adventure, instruction, information and fun - without the fluff - will all be there in the Deseret News' outdoors/recreation coverage.
