Charges were filed Friday in 3rd District Court against a man accused of shooting and wounding two Salt Lake teenagers.
Sam Joseph Hyde, 18, faces two counts of attempted criminal homicide.The shooting, believed by police to be gang-related, occurred Tuesday as a group of youths played basketball at 1619 S. 1300 West. Witnesses said Hyde shot at least six shots into the crowd from his vehicle.
Darnell Frenchwood, 16, was shot in the knee, and Jeremiah Hart, 18, was shot in the back. Both were treated at local hospitals.
Hyde was arrested in a Crossroads Plaza restaurant Wednesday evening. According to court documents, a police officer overheard the defendant, as he was being booked into jail, say he "wanted to kill" the victims.
