Lehi Mayor Guy Cash's first court appearance on a third-degree felony charge of receiving unlawful compensation by an elected official was continued until May 29.

Cash was scheduled to appear Thursday in 4th Circuit Court to hear the charge and schedule a preliminary hearing. Thursday morning Cash's attorney, Stan Smith, called the court and asked for a continuance. Judge Lynn Davis said the two-week continuance should give Smith ample time to prepare.Cash, a real estate agent for Wardley Better Homes and Gardens, allegedly sold a lot owned by Lehi City in the Cedar Hollows subdivision and received a commission on the sale without bringing the matter before the City Council. If convicted, Cash could face a sentence up to five years in prison.
