A high school football player was listed in critical condition in a coma Monday after suffering brain damage while making a tackle during a game.
Dale Lair of Houston County, a 16-year-old junior, was in the intensive care unit at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.Lair hit a runner head-first on the thigh Friday night during a game against Montgomery Central. He stayed in the game for two plays, then took himself out of the action and collapsed on the sidelines.
Charlie Lair, the player's father, said the right side of his son's brain was damaged.
Dale Lair played tailback and defensive back.
