Calvin Clarence Clawson, age 90, died May 13, 1991, at the home of a son in Issaquah, Washington.
Born June 9, 1900 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the youngest of nine children born to Mary Anne Jones and Dr. Stanley H. Clawson, who were descended from Utah pioneer families. He grew up and attended public schools in Salt Lake City. He married Anne Richardson, September 19, 1929. Graduated from the Chicago College of Dental Surgery, Loyola University, in 1932 and, following his father in the dental profession, he practiced dentistry in Salt Lake City for over 50 years. In 1976 he was elected a Life Member in the Utah Dental Society. Two sons continue in the practice of dentistry. Cal enjoyed the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing and hunting in Big Piney, Wyoming and trolling on the Strawberry Reservoir, Utah. Many of his friends regarded Cal as The Compleat Angler.Calvin was preceded in death by his seven brothers and a sister, and also by his wife of 59 years. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Eastman (Anne) Hatch, Logan; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Stanley H. (Katherine) Clawson, Eugene, Oregon; Dr. Joseph R. (Kay) Clawson, Wheeling, West Virginia; Calvin C. (Susan) Clawson, Jr., Issaquah, Washington; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 18, 12 noon, Larkin Mortuary Chapel, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be following the service in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be made to a favorite charity or to the Anne R. Clawson Memorial Library Fund, Development Center, Westminster College, 1840 South 13th East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84105.
