The Salt Lake Sting will be looking for its first win Friday when it plays the Vancouver 86ers at Derks Field.
The game against the 86ers is one of the American Professional Soccer League's innovations this season, whereby each team plays a home game against a foreign team. The game counts in the standings. So far, the only foreign team to take on APSL clubs is the Montreal Supra, which lost to Tampa Bay and Penn-Jersey last week. The Sting (0-2), which lost to Albany Saturday on rain-drenched Derks Field, are in third place in the APSL's Western Conference. The main reason they aren't in last place is that they have one point - for a goal scored - in the league's point system for determining standings. The Colorado Foxes have no points, but then, they haven't played yet, either.
Friday's game starts at 7:30 p.m.
