Ruth Saunders Kapp, 81, of Orem, died May 13, 1991 at her home of cancer.
She was born February 21, 1910 in Ogden, Utah to Reuben A. and Pearl Harbertson Saunders. She married Jacob Kapp, February 8, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; he died October 10, 1970. She was educated in Ogden City schools, and later lived also in Vale, Oregon and Orem, Utah. She was a member of the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served actively in the Relief Society, MIA and Primary auxiliaries throughout her life, especially in the areas of music and drama.Following her husband's death, she served a full-time mission in the Jackson, Mississippi Mission, and thereafter engaged in nearly full-time genealogy research, including serving an extended Name Extraction Mission. She and her husband played piano and drums in the Kapp Orchestra for 25 years, in Utah and Oregon.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Jack R. Kapp, Brigham City, (Currently serving a full-time mission with his wife, Sue in the Dominican Republic, Santiago Mission); Gary L. Kapp and Janice Kapp Perry, Provo; Ann Kapp Anderson, Fairbanks, Alaska; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold H. Saunders; three sisters, Verna Ross, Fern Cox and Rae Preston.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 17, at 11 a.m. at the Lakeridge 6th Ward Chapel, 80 West 900 South, Orem. Friends may call Thursday evening at Sundberg Olpin Mortuary from 6-8 p.m. and Friday at the chapel one hour prior to services. Entombment, Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Mausoleum, Ogden, with crypt side prayer at 3:30 p.m. Funeral directors, Leavitt's Chapel of Flowers Mortuary.
