Amy Grant will make Salt Lake City her initial stop for her "Lead Me On Tour." She performs Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Salt Palace Acord Arena.

"Lead Me On" is the title of her new album. It clearly establishes Grant not only as the top artist in contemporary Christian music, but as top artist, period.Grant was writing songs by age 14. She signed her first record contract at at 15. By age 25, she had won three Grammy Awards and numerous Dove Awards.

Her albums include "Age to Age," 1982; "Straight Ahead," 1984; and "Unguarded," 1985. "Age to Age" was the first album by a solo artist in the gospel category every to earn gold and platinum album status. And "Unguarded" introduced Grant to the pop music audience.

The singer is somewhat of a pioneer - the first gospel singer to expand the boundaries of her music and audience without compromising her essential spiritual message.

She describes herself as "a pop singer with Christian lyrics." She says she is proving to the world that "it's okay to be a Christian and have fun, too."

Special guests on her current "Lead Me On Tour" are Michael W. Smith and Grant's husband, guitarist Gary Chapman. They are parents of a one-year-old son.
