Approximately 376 members of the International Beta Sigma Phi Sorority recently attended the quadri-state convention held at the Yarrow Hotel in Park City. In attendance were members from Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and Nevada.Highlights included the keynote address by Jack Ross, executive vice president of Beta Sigma Phi, and a brunch at which Dr. Daniel Litchford, a motivator and professor at Weber State College, was the speaker.
The Utah Opera Company provided a program during the convention, and the Norodna Dancers appeared.
Several awards were presented, including a special award of merit for overall appearance and contest which went to Preceptor Omicron Chapter of Casper, Wyo.
First place yearbook contest recipient was Glenda Zimky of Xi Delta Chapter, Salt Lake City; second place winner was Lambda Chapter, Boi8se, Idaho, and third place was tied and presented to Xi Chi Chapter, Layton, and Xi-Gamma Chapter, Cheyenne, Wyo.
The traveling trophy was presented to Alpha Rho Chapter of Wyoming.
Chairman of the convention was Jan Brown, assisted by co-chairman, Peggy Stanley.
***"WOMEN HELPING WOMEN TO HELP THEMSELVES" will be the theme of a fashion show and breakfast to be held Sept. 24, 8 a.m., at the Cafe Pacific.
The event, which will spotlight fashions for the queen-sized woman, is being sponsored by The Greater Salt lake Woman and Hanes Hosiery. Proceeds will be donated to the YWCA's residential programs for low income and pregnant teens. These programs assist women to become self-reliant through counseling and skill development.
Modeling in the fashion show will be winners in the recent model search held in the Salt Lake Valley as well as professional models provided by Not Just for Little Girls, a local large-size modeling agency.

***MEMBERS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH MOTHERS CLUB will hold their opening social and luncheon on Sept. 14, 1 p.m., in the West Ballroom of the University of Utah Union Building.
Hawaiian and Tahitian dancing will be presented by the family of Tammy Henderson. Dancers will wear the costumes typical of those cultures. Hawaiian dress is optional for members.
Presiding will be Gladys Dalebout, president.
Polynesian-style decorations being designed by Mrs. Lyle D. Michaelis.
Program chairman is Mrs. Claire Morris.
***MEMBERS OF THE FEDERAL WOMEN'S CLUB will hold their September luncheon at the Hayloft Restaurant in Roy, Sept. 17, 12:30 p.m.
Hostesses for the event are Gloria Ashby, Lola Creager, Doris Moffit and Gloria Thim.
Reservations should be made by Sept. 12, and no cancellations will be accepted after Sept. 13.
