A Salt Lake man stabbed numerous times early Sunday in a bar was in stable condition Monday at Holy Cross Hospital.

Steve Richards, 29, was stabbed about 2 a.m. while trying to prevent an undesired guest from entering the Bar & Grill, 60 E. Eight South, where Richards is employed as a bouncer, said Lt. Norm Thompson.After a struggle, friends of Richards subdued a suspect, who was taken to LDS Hospital where he was listed in serious condition. He was released from the hospital Monday morning and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault, Thompson said.

Police have recovered a folding knife.
