Dr. Marina Myles-Worsley, a psychologist and assistant professor in the University of Utah Department of Psychiatry, has been awarded $25,000 to study abnormalities associated with schizophrenia.

The grant was awarded by the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression, which has given $600,000 this year to 24 scientists whose research projects are on the cutting edge of uncovering the causes of serious psychiatric disorders.

Myles-Worsley is focusing on a newly developed "attention task" to learn what components of attention are disrupted by schizophrenia and which are not. She will also use this finding to investigate the extent to which attentional processing is genetically determined.
