A phone call from a confidential informant Monday night helped California police capture a Salt Lake murder suspect and his father.
The fugitives were profiled in the FBI's Most Wanted column in the Deseret News March 8.Joseph A. Slattery Jr. and Joseph Slattery Sr. were arrested Monday night in San Francisco after the caller saw a television show profiling the duo.
Joseph Slattery Jr., 20, was charged in 3rd Circuit Court with second-degree murder in the death of Salt Lake resident Burton W. Linderer, who was shot in the head June 15 with an assault rifle.
Slattery Sr., 50, was charged with obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony.
Police say the pair were staying with the murder victim and had argued before the shooting. Investigators allege the younger Slattery returned to the victim's apartment and shot Linderer when he answered the door.
The father-son duo fled Salt Lake City after the incident and had eluded law enforcement officers until Monday.
