Juab County commissioners are once again considering hiring a computer coordinator for the county building.
Recently, commissioners did away with the position, but last month Commission Chairman Richard Brough recommended an evaluation of the current computer-management system by Dave Cloward of Hawkins, Borup, Cloward and Co., Orem. After meeting with a number of officials and employees in various county offices to understand their computer-management needs and ideas, Cloward recently met with commissioners and recommended a coordinator be hired.
"As we interviewed the above individuals," Cloward wrote in his recommendations, "it became apparent that there is no overall management system in place at present."
Cloward said each department handles its own computer problems and interface with the softward support vendor on an individual basis. "This is a very inefficient and ineffective method of handling the computer management function," Cloward said.
"We recommend that Juab County appoint one person to serve as the computer coordinator," he said.
