The College of Eastern Utah's debate team finished the year ranking second among all junior and community colleges in the nation.

The school also ranked 16th in the United States and second in the Rocky Mountain region among all colleges and universities, according to results announced by the Cross Examination Debate Association, the national organization that governs intercollegiate debate competition.Last year, CEU finished third among two-year schools, sixth in the Rocky Mountain region, and fifty-first in the final standings that included over 300 colleges and universities participating in association-governed debate.

Among community colleges, only California's Bakersfield College outranked CEU nationally. In the region, among all colleges and universities, only the U.S. Air Force Academy outscored CEU.

During the year, CEU has captured the top ranking for two-year colleges on several occasions, swapping the position with California's Bakersfield College throughout the year. Near the end of the year, CEU maintained a lead over Bakersfield. The California school, however attended several large tournaments at season's end, eventually accumulating more overall points.
