Although gusting winds thwarted some BYU athletes at the Modesto Relays Saturday, Anna Mosdell requalified for the NCAA championships in the discus throw and Anu Kaljurand improved her provisional time in the 100m hurdles.

Mosdell threw a personal best of 177-7 and Kaljurand was clocked in a wind-aided time of 13.39.Brent Patera made the finals of the men's discus but his final mark wasn't reported.

In the men's open 1500m run, Jason Pyrah placed first with 3:45.47 and Russ Muir came in sixth with 3:49.46.

In the women's 1500, Dorota Buczkowska was hampered by the wind while finishing second among collegians in a time of 4:29.9.

Long jumper Shu-Hwa Wang, who has already qualified for nationals, sailed 20-5 in the women's collegiate division for third place.

A big disappointment came to Laura Zaugg, who was on target for the best 400m hurdle time of her life, when she tripped on the final hurdle and finished last.
