Elaine Crosby took a one-shot edge after Saturday's third round of the Crestar-Farm Fresh Classic in Chesapeake, Va., as most of the front-runners faltered in swirl Golf rounduping winds.
Crosby's 1-under 71 left her at 209, 7-under, heading into Sunday's final round of the $400,000 event at Greenbrier Country Club.Tammie Green, one shot ahead of Crosby after two rounds, birdied two of her last three holes to salvage a 1-over 73 and was at 210.
Rosie Jones birdied two of her last four en route to a 70. She was alone at 212.
"The wind is really tough out there," Jones said. "You can chart out everything when you get to your ball, and by the time you hit your shot, it's shifted twice. It's really inconsistent, and it's getting a lot of people in trouble."
At Marietta, Ga., the third round of the $1 million Atlanta Golf Classic was suspended until Sunday after a three-hour, 43-minute rain delay Saturday.
When play was suspended at 12:30 p.m. MDT, rookie Mike Springer held a one-stroke lead over Tom Kite, the leading career money winner on the PGA Tour with nearly $6.5 million.
Springer, playing in the final twosome with Kite, birdied the second hole with a 20-foot uphill putt just before play was suspended to go to 14 under through 38 holes.
