Pioneer Elementary School, 3860 S. 3380 West, will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a week of special activities.

On Monday, May 13, students will plant a new tree in the school yard. Tuesday, May 14, students who have turned in all their reading sheets for the year will make handprints in a concrete block in front of the school; Wednesday, May 15 will be a jump-a-thon and Thursday, May 16, students and the community will celebrate at a special program, art displays and other activities.A special display of pioneer memorabilia will be shown and a dedication plaque will be presented to the school by Granite Superintendent Loren G. Burton. Past and present Pioneer School chorus members will join in singing "Peace on Earth," a traditional song for the school.

Friday, May 17, the school will bury a time capsule.

Committee members include Principal Dorene Squires, Gwen Daw, Clarann Hughes, Cherie Nielsen, Peggy Wennegren, Kaye Anderson, Janet Nixon, Pat Tucker, Donnie Olson and Andi Bennett.
