Five recipients received the Good Neighbor Award Saturday night in conjunction with the Salt Lake City Neighborhood Conference.

Winners were: Faye Nichols, People's Freeway Neighborhood; First Step House, an alcoholic rehabilitation center; KOPE Kids, an environmental kids group from Hawthorne Elementary; Edwin Dial from Northwest Neighborhood; and Virginia Bird from East Central Neighborhood.A panel of five judges selected winners based on outstanding programs, methods and/or activities in their neighborhood or community. Projects have included tree plantings, park improvements, cleanup projects and crime watch programs. Community organizations, businesses or individuals who have made significant contributions to the quality of life or environment in a specific Salt Lake neighborhood are eligible to receive awards.

The Good Neighbor Award is sponsored by the Salt Lake Association of Community Councils and Key Bank.
