A June 24 trial date has been set for a 32-year-old man accused of raping a South Ogden woman and then trying to stab her to death.
Henry A. Lindsay Jr., of Ogden, is charged with attempted murder and two counts of aggravated sexual assault.Public defender Bernie Allen told 2nd District Judge David E. Roth Wednesday that a psychiatric report shows Lindsay is "at least capable of assisting in his own defense."
Allen also asked for a reduction of Lindsay's $60,000 bail because an initial aggravated kidnapping charge against Lindsay had been dropped.
But Roth refused to reduce bail, saying Lindsay still faces three first-degree felony charges. Deputy Weber County Attorney Bill Daines noted that the kidnapping charge had been amended to a second sex charge.
Lindsay was arrested the night of April 1 after a 23-year-old South Ogden woman told police she escaped from Lindsay's apartment through a window.
Nude and bloodied, she ran screaming to an intersection and collapsed.
The woman said she was raped and was stabbed when her attacker said he couldn't let her go because she would call police.
