Dr. Patrick Knibbe will pedal his bike 500 miles to help people with arthritis learn more about the disease.

Knibbe, a Salt Lake arthritis specialist, is riding through for a week and speaking in St. George, Cedar City, Panguitch, Richfield, Nephi, Provo, Bountiful and Logan."The bike ride is a different way to bring the problems of arthritis to the public's attention," Knibbe said. "The seminars help educate people in smaller communities about arthritis and give them the opportunity to ask a rheumatologist questions."

The Bountiful seminar will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, at the Lakeview Hospital. The public is invited to attend any of the seminars, which are free.

Pharmaceutical companies sponsoring the ride are Ciba-Geigy, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Pfizer Laboratories, UpJohn and Wyeath-Ayerst Laboratories. The Wild Rose Mountain Sports store is donating bicycle equipment.
