Bertel Arnberg, Real Estate Broker, returned home on May 8, 1991.
Born in Malmo, Sweden, December 31, 1901 to Richard and Hilma J. Arnberg. Made his way to New York City in 1921 where he became a citizen of the United States. He resided in New York until 1942. During World War II Bertel served as a Field Director of the American Red Cross in Port Lyautey, North Africa; Sardinia, Italy and in Germany. Served the United States Department of State as a Resident Officer in post-war Germany, stationed in Landshut.Married Ardith Spalding, 1950 in Landshut. In 1957 Bertel and Ardith returned to the United States with their three sons and settled in Salt Lake city, Utah. Worked for Cook Real Estate Company until 1965 when he founded his own real estate firm. Bertel was active in the Salt Lake Board of Realtors and at the time of his death he was an honorary member. Enjoyed his involvement with Wasatch Presbyterian Church where he sang in the Chancel Choir. Civic activities included the Kiwanis Club of Sugarhouse and the Masonic Fraternity through Mount Moriah Lodge #II; the York Rite; Scottish Rite and the El Kalah Shrine bodies. Bertel also participated for many years in the Salt Lake Oratorio Society Chorus annual production of Handel's Messiah.
Survived by wife, Ardith; three sons; Richard M. Arnberg, II, Jacksonville, Florida; Bertel K.E. Arnberg, Jr., Tacoma, Washington; Norman C. Arnbert, Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Five Grandchildren; Megan, Karl, Erika, Dana and Trey.
In lieu of flowers, well wishers may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or to the Shriners Children Hospital.
Memorial services will be conducted at the Wasatch Presbyterian Church, 1626 South 1700 East, Monday, May 13, at 12 noon.
