The John Atlantic Burr, the Lake Powell ferry operated between Hall's Crossing and Bullfrog Marina, will resume service Friday after a two-month halt for construction.
A project to widen the public launch ramp at Bullfrog Marina by 50 feet and extend the ramp to the low-water line kept the ferry shut down since Feb. 28, according to the state Department of Transportation. The ferry will resume its winter schedule Friday, operating from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with departures from Hall's Crossing on the even hours and from Bullfrog on odd hours.
On Wednesday, expanded summer service will keep the service operating from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Low water at Lake Powell has made the loading facility normally used by the ferry inoperable. The ferry will use the public ramp until the lake level rises or until funding is obtained to extend the ferry ramps.
