A Honduran said to be one of the world's wealthiest drug kingpins was sentenced by a federal judge Wednesday to three life sentences for the kidnapping of a U.S. drug agent murdered in Mexico.

Juan Ramon Matta-Ballesteros, 46, shook his head and sighed as U.S. District Judge Edward Rafeedie sentenced Matta-Ballesteros, saying the prison terms are to be served concurrently.Matta-Ballesteros was convicted July 26, 1990, of kidnapping, conspiracy to commit kidnapping and committing violent crimes as part of a narcotics enterprise stemming from the 1985 murder of U.S. Drug Enforcement Agent Enrique Camarena. Matta-Ballesteros was acquitted of Camarena's murder.
