AT&T has signed contracts to provide long distance service to public pay telephones for Salt Lake City and the Salt Lake International Airport.
The Salt Lake City contract is for one year and replaces one the city had with MCI. The airport contract is for 4 1/2 years and is worth about $8 million.AT&T provides long distance service to 20 of the 25 largest airports in the country. Salt Lake International ranks as 25th largest with 11.8 million annual passengers.
People using public telephones owned by the city or those in the airport can reach AT&T by dialing "0" plus the number. AT&T customers traveling through airports and other locations that have not selected AT&T need to dial access code 10-ATT-0 to reach AT&T.
